I have the STI Hd 5 beadlock wheels 14x7 with 5+2 offset and I am very happy with the look I will try and get a pic in the next day or so.

Think I'm going to go for a set of either 28x10x14 or 30x10x14 Maxxis Carnivores and run them on the stock Can Am 14x7 wheels... Just need to get a pair of stock 1000 XT silver 14x7 wheels somewhere... I'm assuming I'll have to either adjust the current clutch (again) or take the leap and get a whole new primary/secondary set up to handle the new rubber...

Thanks for all the responses...

anybody want to give me some advice? 2013 Commander X, just bought msa kore m20 14/7 rims. i'd like to go 29/10 but i'm not sure the rear will fit it, I have 28x12x14 in the rear now and only about an inch between tire and rock slider? would I be better off with 28/10, performance and reliability. Definitely not wanting to do any clutch upgrades until I have to. Machine is stock other than snorkles.
thanks for any comments

I would stay with the 28" but drop the 12 wide for 10's . Not much power difference from 27 to 28 .

That's pretty much the conclusion I came to when deciding between 28's and 30's... I'd like 30's for the additional clearance, but I'll pay for that weight in broken CV's, tie rods/ends, steering rack, blown belts, etc... I'm already having all those issues just trying to run the stock 27's... I'm in the process of tuning a new QSC/STM setup and once I get that dialed in, I'll mount the 28's and see how that goes... Pretty sure I'm going with Maxxis Carnivores for the type of terrain I ride in...

Also the rock slider is simple to shorten, pull plug remove desired amount with die grinder cut off wheel hack saw or what ever you have reinsert plug and no more rub just sayin!

And welcome to the forum jrainey..

Thanks guys, I think I've decided to go with the 28/10/14 Kanati Mongrels. They look like a good all around tire and I have read some good reviews on them. Mostly trail riding here in GA and went to Windrock last weekend, I will go back there...awesome place. Do you guys think they will need to be aligned at all??

Hey guys, looking to do exactly what you all have done when I pick my '19 XT800 up on Tuesday. Pretty well decided on 28x10 tires, most likely the Motovator radial (which is a 9.5" wide), but still working out what size wheels to get as far as width goes. Stock front are 7" wide, rears are 8.5" wide. Is the skinnier 7" wide size generally the preferred rim width for a 10" wide tire? I'm pretty well decided on the STI HD9 beadlock wheels and the 7" wide ones are a 5+2 (30mm) offset which is only 11 mm less than the factory 41mm offset of the 7" fronts. Would that mean the 7" wide HD9's would stick out 10mm more or less than the stock 7" wide wheels? The matte black HD9's are offered in 7 and 8 inch widths for our bolt pattern with a 5+2 and 4+4 offset respectively, so if the 7" is too skinny I can always bump up to an 8" wide wheel. Thanks.

7” rim is fine . A wider rim will be Easy to damage compared to a narrow rim

Just pulled the trigger on Maxxis Carnivores in 28x10 with STI HD9 14x7 wheels, 5+2 offset, in matte black. Should be here by the end of the week! Damn machine isn't even sitting in my garage yet lol Did you guys compare wheel package weights when you swapped over? The carnivores were a surprisingly light tire for a DOT radial, within a few pounds of the stock rear bighorns. Considering I'm losing 1.5" of rim width in the rear, and the 1" of tire width I gain up front will be lost in the back, this package should be pretty close to stock as far as weight goes. I'm going to put everything on a scale when I swap them out.

I just installed 4- 30x10x14 Quadboss QBT846 on my 18 commander 1000, only rode it around the property so far which is still covered in 8 inches of snow, the steering difficulty is way more noticeable and these tires are no where near as good in the snow as the Bighorn 2.0's were. I did put them on the stock XT rims , is that a bad idea to have the tires on two different sized rims?

if possible get the same size rims, i ran 30 x10 big horns before on stock rims without any noticeable problems,
