Try disconnecting battery hook the pos and neg cables together than hook battery up than try and start ECM may be confused

That makes me more confused than ever and on a higher level
Why that
Now I'm no freaking rocket scientist. But a lot of ecms are like computers now and have small watch sized batteries backups in them. So by hooking the two cables together basically creates a dead short. Don't know that it would be a good thing to do.

Learn from my mistakes it's cheaper on you wallet!!!

I have done so much for so long with so little I am now qualified to do everything with nothing!!!

This is for everyone out there in Commander Land. You don't have to hang with the big dogs you just have to watch them play!!!

Poor men have poor ways!!!

When in doubt gas it you got to make it or break it.
That just drains the residual power from all circuits so when you hook the battery back up it is all reset and refreshes but most likely if the ECU is screwed up it will still be screwed up but its worth a try. You do the procedure on cars to clear and reset all circuits.

That's why!
All that is above my pay grade

There is one on driver side of motor on rear cylinder.

I have a 2014 Commander 800R base model with 700 miles, no mods. Went out to start it the other day and when I turned it on the display read RRRRRRRRRR but backwards all the way across and wouldn't start. Now when I turn it on it says Hi and Maintenance Required but still wont start. The odometer isn't even present anymore. when you push the mode button it does nothing. Ive checked all fuses and battery voltage and the grounds next to the battery. Any advise would be very helpful bc my dealer is a few hours away so hoping it is something simple. Thanks in advance
Are you still under warranty?

Faulty start button? Gearbox in neutral/park or pushing the brakes before starting?
Tried in neutral and park with and without pressing brake. Might be faulty start button but leaning towards electrical because u cant even see the mileage anymore.
Sorry if this is a dumb question... I am the new owner of a 2012 Commander XT... so you shouldn't apply the brakes when starting? That is a bad thing to do? It can prevent starting?

No when in gear you have to hold the brake or it won’t start. But also if the brake light switch goes bad it won’t start in gear even with brake Applied. But it will start in park and neutral without applying the brake .
