I have a 2014 Commander 800R base model with 700 miles, no mods. Went out to start it the other day and when I turned it on the display read RRRRRRRRRR but backwards all the way across and wouldn't start. Now when I turn it on it says Hi and Maintenance Required but still wont start. The odometer isn't even present anymore. when you push the mode button it does nothing. Ive checked all fuses and battery voltage and the grounds next to the battery. Any advise would be very helpful bc my dealer is a few hours away so hoping it is something simple. Thanks in advance

Did you check your battery voltage
Next step is what does it do when you turn the key on ??? Will your headlights come on .. Faulty ignition switch maybe ???

Checked voltage and put different battery in it. When you turn the key on lights come on, display says Hi and maintenance required then nothing no mileage readout or anything. You should be able to push the button on the display to look at odometer but pushing it does nothing.

Sounds like ECM ( it had a brain fart ) if all grounds are good then off to the stealer . Check all plug connectors first before the dealer road trip

Did you try jumping it. Did you load test the battery or just check for voltage. Also are the neg. and poss. tight.

It's a stretch, but try removing the key several times and repeat the start cycle. The ecm may not be recognizing the key as it's mate. Also try your other key. You should have had 2 keys for it when you purchased it. My keys are programmed backwards, the grey is the standard key and the black is the low performance. Should have been the other way around.
Good Luck

Mine did that when I tried to start it after sitting for the winter in a garage. I took the key out, wiped it, put it back in and it worked fine. Hopefully that's all it is.

Didja check the air in the tire while having a beer! I was told that these things clear themselves out with the right amount of air in the tire and while drinking a beer (Sorry nothing I can think of other than the ECU being PMSd!

Now I'm no freaking rocket scientist. But a lot of ecms are like computers now and have small watch sized batteries backups in them. So by hooking the two cables together basically creates a dead short. Don't know that it would be a good thing to do.

Learn from my mistakes it's cheaper on you wallet!!!

I have done so much for so long with so little I am now qualified to do everything with nothing!!!

This is for everyone out there in Commander Land. You don't have to hang with the big dogs you just have to watch them play!!!

Poor men have poor ways!!!

When in doubt gas it you got to make it or break it.

That just drains the residual power from all circuits so when you hook the battery back up it is all reset and refreshes but most likely if the ECU is screwed up it will still be screwed up but its worth a try. You do the procedure on cars to clear and reset all circuits.
