We just picked up our new Commander a few weeks ago and thought about getting it insured. I went to our State Farm agent, who we have insurance with on our house, 3 vehicles, and motor home insured through. They told me $600 a year to insure it. I was kind of shocked at the price because it is something we only use on occasion. Who do you guys have yours insured through and what does it cost?

Foremost insurance, $330/yr. Thats $300,000 liability and collision. The liability is required in some of the counties I want to ride in.

If you take it off the property then absolutely yes, if not then perhaps no. Its the other guy on the trail plus theft etc. to think about.

600$ is way to high, shop around, I pay 269 cdn for everything!

Not sure why it is so high, we have perfect driving records, no claims ever. Probably the difference is because ours is a new 2016.

Thanks for all the replies, we will definitely shop around!

State Farm had to change the classification of all SXS's. Any new purchase will be under their new rates that are very high compared to other companys. Shop around. I have a 2015 Commander 1000 and 2015 RZR 900S for about $21.00 per month with Geico.

Thanks, I guess that's why we got such a high rate. I will get with Geico and Progressive and see what they say.

$205 with progressive here.

Do you guys with these low rates have your cars and home insured with these companies too? That is why I went to our State Farm agent. I assumed it would be pretty cheap because everything we own is covered through them..............boy was I wrong.

I have a rec vehicle policy bundle with nationwide two sleds wheeler and buggy is 400 a year, withthe accessories adder on ski doo's and buggy

Yea, I assume our quote was more because it is 5 years newer.

I checked with Progressive and they show $298 per year with $500 deduct and $393 with $250 deduct with better overall coverage. I may go with them.

Insured but through Johnson I'm paying $600/yr so I'm shopping around for this year. I've got way higher coverage than most people have listed but still hopeful to bring my cost down.

I went to my local Allstate agent today, and she said $193 for a year with $1000 deduct on comp and collision. $100k medical for liability. She didn't know if that covered theft though, and will call me back tomorrow. Gotta have theft insurance!

Check with your insurance about multi-vehicle (or multi-atv) discounts. I have my 2014 Commander and a 2006 250 4-wheeler insured. I have in essence given the 250 to my daughters family so I was going to see about dropping it from my insurance. Now here is the part that freaks me out. I have checked and rechecked with my agent about this. If I drop the 2006 250 my overall insurance bill INCREASES by $90 per year. Yes that is correct....it is $90 cheaper per year to carry full insurance on a SxS and a 4-wheeler than just having insurance on a SxS. The agent said it is just the algorithm they use to calculate it. It might be worth you buying a junker 4-wheeler and put full insurance on it too. Might save you some money.

I have all-state best insurance ever never denied a claim have full coverage on my 2004 honda 2004 grizzly 2008 grizzly and 2013 commander. Cost me with multi vehicle discount 360 a year check it out. Just looked at declaration sheet 90 dollars a unit is what they charge me.

As you can see by the enormous amount of variance in quoted prices, there are simply too many variables that come into play when looking at prices and companies. You will have to shop around based upon your unique status.

One thing to consider is simply peace of mind. Will you feel better to have your sxs insured against theft, fire, damage, or other potential loss.

As stated in earlier post 4x4ff is correct again I looked at my declaration sheet and it is staggering but I receive 538 dollars in discounts on my insurance look a the numbers info were to drop all the four wheelers off of my policies the commander would cost 233.22. There is a different number for all units bases on model and yr but it is definitely cheeper to insure multiple units shop around but I think you will find Allstate is the best. But no matter what the cost insure it.
