Great job on the whip! I was thinking of doing the same thing but got lazy and just paid for one.

 

AAAALLLLrighty then.. I bought a 5 meter RGB (red green blue) LED strip on eBay along with a remote controller. I found clear heat shrink tube at Buyheatshrink.com. I bought the standard Fire stick at my local Yamaha shop and cut it down to the minimum height to save weight. I figure I have about $85 into it.

I just got my LED's. I had to come and find this thread again and see where you were from as I went on a ride a few saturdays ago and saw a commander with the same whip. But this was in New Brunswick, Canada, I don't think it was you, plus his commander was yellow.

How did you fix the led on the tube ?

Can you post a picture of the fixture on the commander ?

 

Thats what the heatshrink does,after you wrap the LEDs on the pole you slide the heatshrink over them,heat em up,tube shrinks nice and tight and there you go.I followed Rhino s link and made one myself.Good info.Good job Rhino !

Someone needs to find a way to have this change colors to the beat of your tunes on the SSV or stereo. Now we are talking.

 

My neighbor was making and selling these exact same things. I think he got in trouble on this forum for saying that he was selling them. In any case, you are absolutely right. The video, while totally awesome, does not do this light justice. AMAZING!
