At the cabin it has been 30 degrees and my 2011 800 comander really struggles to start? It turns over but a fuel injected machine should not have a hard time starting any suggestions? Anyone having this same issue? Im a rhino owner also and I have no problems at all I'm wondering if I did the right thing by buying a canam?:icon_ nono2:

No problems starting here either, what are you running for oil in the crankcase?

Thanks for all the replies, I trickle charge my battery, my battery is strong, my oil is the recomended BRP all season oil, i feel it's an altitude issue maybe but once it is running it runs great. Thanks for all the feed back I hope to get it figured out cause it's kinda pissing me off if you know what I mean.:rating06:

follow up on cold weather starting 2011 800 commander

So I have been trying to figure out my could weather starting issue and here is what I've done and am figuring out.

It has been 20 degrees at the cabin the last few mornings so I leave the machine out all night. In the morn I start it and of course it won't start, it kicks over strong but won't start. So I have figured this so far I start it and it won't start so I pull the key out wait a minute then put key in and it starts right up? I very cold blooded but the key thing really makes a difference? Why? Anyone experiencing this? I still feel the high elevation has something to do with it? Can that be adjusted because it's fuel injected? Any suggestions I would love to hear it.

FWIW, I live at 8000 ft. My 800xt started just fine all last winter with temperatures well below 0F at times. So, not sure that altitude would be the problem or I would have seen some issues as well. No suggestions, but possibly something with the computer system since your key seems to affect starting? Something specific to your machine?

Sorry that I can't help more than to let you know that my machine starts fine at altitude at low temps.

I live at 6000' and it gets down to -40. last year it got down into the -30 and mine starts fine most of the time. Once in a while you turn the and push the bottun, and nothing no click no anything. The dash lights upand starts scrolling through the greating but nothing else. turn the key off wait 5 sec. and turn it back on and hit the button and VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM. don't know why. Could it be the same thing I don't.

Maybe need to replace the battery ?

I might have missed something but you say it turns over strong but won't start. But if you remove the key wait and reinsert it it will start. It sounds like the system isn't recognizing the chip in the key at times and not letting it start.

Make sure your headlights are off before pushing the start button. Let all the battery power go to the starter instead of sharing with the lights. After running, and idle settled in turn on your lights.

Mine has been a little slower rolling over now with -15c temp, and when its running untill it warms up it stays in limp home mode. No clue why, only thing different this year from last is a custom intake just like the utv inc one, and the hmf swamp series xl exhaust.

The suggestion was made to check my fuel pump pressure cause some folks have had issues. My fuel pump pressure is right on at 50 psi. Right now its been cold but my machine is not at 8600 feet and right now it's starting just fine. Any way I sure appreciate all of your input it has been helpful cause it has forced me to really dig into my machine and at this point I believe I have torn into just about everything on it. Thanks to all and be safe in your riding adventurers
