What does everyone wear for winter riding? Heading to Cabela's today to get some ideas. I'm looking forward to some riding in the snow but want to stay warm!
Thanks

I wear the Carhartt Arctic Extreme Coveralls over my hunting clothes. You can't wear them out and the zippers are very durable. I once heard a rumor that you can use the zippers at tire chains on your Can-Am if you were in an emergency situation(s). That is only a rumor and I haven't seen it done nor do i know anyone who has actually done it :)

Seriously, they are very warm and the black soaks up the sun.

Footwear... I love my new Kenetrek Pack Boots. Much better than the POS Sorells that i used to wear.

Our Carhartt Men's Extremes® Zip-To-Waist Biberall is water-repellent and designed for the coldest conditions.

Made of 1000-denier Cordura® nylon, it's lined in arctic-weight 100% quilted nylon polyester.

It features a zipper front and leg zippers that zip to the hip and are covered with snap close wind flaps. It also has double knees with cleanout bottoms to accommodate knee pads and zippered hand pockets.

1000-denier Cordura® nylon, heavyweight
Water-repellent
Double knees with cleanout bottoms
For the best fit, order one size larger in waist and one size shorter for inseam length. If wearing heavy layers, order two sizes larger in waist.

I wait for Cabela's/LL Bean to have off season sales. I use this outfit: Cabela's Guidewear® GORE-TEX® Ice Angler Parka – Regular until my ATV/UTV can't drive thru the snow and then put it away. This stuff is great because it it's also waterproof. Here in Maine the weather has a lot of freezing rain until it stays below freezing all day. It's on sale now for $200.

Layers of clothing I found works best for me. I have a 3 piece Field and Stream that has gortex. Arctic Sport Muck boots and when it's colder I wear the bama slippers in the boots so you need to be careful on size that the boots are not too tight. I use a under armour bala clava. If I'm river runnin I have a one piece Helly Hansen floater suit. It's OK but being a one piece can be a pain very warm though.

I wear carhartt bib overalls and jacket then take em off while riding with a full enclosed cab with CSI soft doors , rear window and a homemade windshield. I like plowing at 10deg's F in a tee shirt.
Sorry, I know that's not the advice your lookin for but it's what I like.

Helly Hanson Canadian Polar Worksuit. Nothing warmer.....

If you have a cab enclosure dress light and bring your warm cloths if you are getting out. After my Commander is at full temp it's like an oven at slow speeds. It does cool down if your running faster.

All the bitching about Commanders being TOO HOT in the Summer, where are those guys now when it is Winter?

Also look for past seasons snowmobile gear. I have a great Ski Doo jacket that is extremely warm and well fitting it also wears like iron. In addition check out on line sellers like Dennis Kirk (denniskirk.com).

I have ridden in the winter dressed in snowmobile attire... Full bibs and jacket. Thinkin of grabbing some CSI doors and complete the enclosure. With the heat off the exhaust... Should be nice and toasty in Maine during January!

I'm just going to wear my standard outdoor gear that I do for all my other activities. Nothing that's specialized for riding per say. A good jacket, pair of bibs, boots, hat and gloves. Of course dressed in layers under it all.

I just turn the heater up but I carry warm stuff with me

We have Gerbing 12 volt heated jackets, I have gloves also, the wife has pants and socks also. Our 2012 Honda Goldwing would run all of our clothes but I would guess the Commander's alternator probably wouldn't run all the Gerbing gear.

I also have a Millwaukee tool heated hooded sweatshirt coming tomorrow for work, I'm sure that would work good in the Can Am also.

Just_KW, I forgot to mention that seat heaters are a great addition to my machine. Let's me preheat the seats while warming up motor. I forget where I got em but they were only $50 each . Stay warm and have fun riding this winter.

Haven't read all the threads but I also do a lot of long distance motorcycle riding. Aerostitch if U search cold weather motorcycle touring you'll find a few companies that make heated gear. U jus plug it in and adjust the temp. No big bulky clothing and most of them have some rain protection.

I think Gerbling is another company that sells heated clothing. You can get soxs, vests, pants and jackets. I'll use my Harley gear.

Well up in Leola Mi riding the trails. About 8-10" of snow and -2 -2+ . Wearing Artic camo gear from Bass Pro, long johns, heated mittens, full face helmet and a pull over. Stayed comfortable

Also bought a pair of Klim BOA and love the way they look and feel. However my toes odd start to get cold with two pairs of socks on. Not sure at this point there really worth the price tag at this point. I will say though I did walk in some deep snow and it didn't get worse.

My experience when hunting is to have a good pair of heavy wool socks and a good pair of insulated boots works better than doubling up on socks. And make sure you have room in your boots to move your toes. If its to tight it will cause your feet to get colder faster.
