Fusible links are usually a little slow to blow...but they CAN go quick as well. The ONLY way to properly check a fusible link is with an ohm meter. You must remove it from the circuit entirely and check it. Some blow so obvious you can tell immediately...but some blow and the insulation still looks good. Only way to eliminate it completely is with an ohm meter. Quite honestly, the same is true for fuses. They can LOOK good...but be bad. An ohm/volt meter is your best friend with electrical work. Just start tracing flow from the start. Shouldn't be that difficult. It's just a slow, drawn out process.
