2011 Commander 800. I am upgrading the standard digital cluster to the analog style. The connector plugs right into the new cluster just fine, but the new cluster has a bunch more pins installed than the old style...and there are not corresponding pins in the connector. I've read and been told this is a legitimate upgrade and only needs to have the ecm and maybe the keys programmed at the dealer for it to work. Am I missing something here or am I screwed after spending a ton on this? Thanks for any and all help you can give me.

The old cluster has to be remove from ecm and the new has to be put into the ecm. Nothing else has to be done . Takes about 10 minutes on the buds software to do the upgrade .

No hasn’t yet. Been a lot of people put a 13 x cluster on 11 and 12 models . And everything worked as it should . I have buds and replaced several for the locals . The buds I bought I can even change the mileage to match the old cluster. Most dealers can’t change the mileage. Mileage is stored in the cluster hrs is stored in the ecm. So when you switch the clutch out the mileage resets to zero but hrs carry over to new cluster.

Got it back after BUDS programming and all is well. The only thing they needed BUDS for was to change it from kilometers to mph...everything else was plug and play! I LOVE this cluster compared to the old one. I need to play around with it and figure out everything about it...but so far so good.

I should have asked them about the mileage Ace. That is a problem when I go to sell it. I will save the old cluster and let them see what the mileage was when I changed it if they want to know that bad.

They needed it for more than just kilometers to mileage cause you change that on the cluster without buds. Every one I have switched out wouldn’t start with the new cluster plugged in. You could unplug it start it then plug it in and they would work till you shut them off. Once I done the switch in the ecm it would start with new cluster plugged in. So no clue glad it’s working. Most dealerships only have the dealer version and the it will not change the mileage. They have to have mega tech version to change a lot of the parameters. So might ask them what version they have before making another trip down there

I've had 2 Outlanders and just bought a 2022 Commander - maybe time to bite the bullet and get the megatech system. I've seen them for sale several places. I could justify it by charging my buddies a nominal fee to use it :)

Lol I have had mega tech for 4 yrs now and haven’t made a dime. I bought it to clear a power steering fault on a 17 x3 cause dealer version wasn’t able to turn the factory power steering off. Have had it hooked to multiple machines to do updates and diagnostic. It’s worth it’s weight in gold. Especially when you have traveled 2000 miles with 10 other machines and it faults out on first day of the ride week.

They also have a page on Facebook. If you have a problem someone on there has already had it and can point you in right direction to correct it.

Lol Norton blocks everything . I have been using that website for updates downloads and licensing renewal for yrs . Guess I’m just luck. I had Norton on my home computer and phone for 3 days . Waisted 72$. But one thing about it nothing was getting through Norton’s firewalls . It slowed everything down so bad that google maps would buffer trying to find my current location .

https://www.powersports-diag.com/en...5-4_tec_desspost-no/47-powerinterface_unit-no

This is where I purchased my software and hardware in 2016. But the other website is only site I have found factory updates. And they list the updates when they are release on the Facebook page. And I don’t know about now but last couple times I had to renew my licenses for buds one and 2 it was cheaper on the bad site. Buds one was 100$ for 10 yr license and on Powersports diagnostic it was 100 a yr or may two yrs. Don’t remember now . Buds 1 is for all computerized machine up to 2017. Then buds 2 picked up when they went to the clip on key.

This is a site my dealer recommended:

I haven't looked into them much...but will. They service a lot of brands.

Guess you have to call them to find out prices . They have nothing but sample pages. And a contact link . The order now and subscription page won’t open for me.
