Well that was a lackluster day. Brought enough fuel, food & supplies to stay out for at least 8 hours today.
20 minutes down the trail I hear a grinding and had problems with power. Thinking it was going into limp and needing low gear, I stop, kick it in low and give it some gas to get outta the wash. Grinding gone, then turns into a clunk and I lost front drive.
Pull the driver seat and access panel and this is laying on the skid plate.
Took it to the dealer - service guy looked said the bearing looks to be seized and it just cut the axle in two - submitting warranty claim for it - hoping its covered :-\
Interesting results. Diagnostics came up the weld failed on the front mid prop shaft. Shaft came apart in the bearing, bearing failed and shaft went kabooom. Root cause of failure is failed weld and covered by the extended warranty.
They'll be replacing the whole setup, upgraded bearing and throwing some goodies in for the hassle (went to my closest dealer, they said to take it to the store I bought it from for warranty repairs even though it's the same...).
10-14 days I'll have it back, hopefully in time for memorial day weekend!
Need to file a complaint with brp against the dealer that told you to take it where you bought it from. If machine is under warranty any can am dealer you take it to is required to file warranty claim.
I don't have the BEST warranty, it's the 3rd party warranty (granted it's the same dealer chain that I bought it from/took it too and both dealers sell the same warranty, so not sure why this other dealer was so pissy). The dealer that has it is the one that I bought it from - and they're taking care of me as a 'sorry for them'. Not the first time this other dealer has shafted me. I bought a dirt bike from them years back and they were great. Not anymore though....
Yeah I am now. Absolutely horrible. The sister inlaw just purchased a General - they got instant service there. I showed up about 4 hours into their process to help haul the rig home for them and was looking at the audio stuff. Couldn't get help for the life of me. Multiple pages for help, asking people to help, always got 'we'll get someone there' and nobody showed. One guy was coming to help, was pulled aside by someone else wanting to buy a unit. It's almost as if they don't GAF about parts or service sales right now and are just focusing on the damn unit sales.

Back at the GOOD dealer - picked up the rig last night and had a LOL moment. On the work order under reported issues it said 'Customer stated clunk and then no drive. Customer walked into shop holding driveshaft thinking that was the problem'. They left me the trophy in the bed.
