Hello- i just bought a 2018 Commander MAX 1000 with 600 miles on it . Wife and passengers are complaining about Loudness and Heat. we wear ear plugs but would rather not. Any suggestions?
Thermotech sound and heat tape on all the panels and console under side. Not 100% but worth what it does. Guessing if brakes are grinding someone has been using brakes a lot for them to be grinding already . Or that was 600 miles of mud. Mud will eat pads in a heartbeat.
Mine were noisy as heck when purchased as well - just the way they are from my experience. They don't grind though - they more squeak/squack when applying. It goes away after a good cleaning and de-dusting, but still sounds like a stuck pig at slow speeds.
It cut down on the heat probably 50%, at least made it to where we could ride without thinking about it. It might help a bit with the noise, but I am getting hard of hearing anyway 😁
Stock brakes are garbage. I have a 2019 800R Max DPS and didn't even have 200 miles on it before the brakes were squealing, grinding, and dragging. Took it to the dealer and he replaced them under warranty. The old pads were magnetized and the rotors were crazed. The new brakes he installed did it again in less than 100 miles. After researching a bit, I installed the Race Driven Riptide rotors and pads and haven't looked back. Have almost 1000 miles on them.
I put some cheap sixity brand brake pads from ebay on my machine about 1500 miles and 3 years ago - when I say cheap, I mean $10 for ALL 3 pairs shipped. I applied generous amounts of CRC brake quiet to the backs of the pads and I'm sure I greased the pins. My brakes are still quiet and stop the machine.
So I noticed when I did my a arms bushings that my brake pads were basically gone at 1500 miles - pretty common from what I read. Stockers are about $50 per wheel. I bought these sixity brand pads on eBay for $9.85 Shipped (that’s all 3 sets for $9.85 shipped) I ordered Sunday. I got home from a...
I'm just over 1000 miles on mine, still on the stock brakes. Just the usually squeaking moan that they've always had and still have more than 50% left on them.
Guess you gotta use brakes to wear them out eh?
