Front half shaft

I have a 2012 Commander XT. Around 2014-15 I installed a Lone Star Racing +4 MTS suspension kit. It extended the width of the machine to add suspension travel and width for stability.

However, my front CV joints have failed. Sometime around 2013 Can-Am decided to increase the diameter of the front half shaft axles and increased the number of splines that insert into the CV joint and spindle. Unfortunately, my suspension kit used the smaller diameter axles. The smaller diameter CV joints are no longer made by Can-Am and they substituted them with the larger axles. You cannot just order the CV joints any longer. They now sell the entire half shaft with the bigger axles included.

My issue is that I need an extended axle for my kit. Does anyone know the number of splines on the newer larger axles versus the older 2012 smaller ones? Lone Star Racing is trying to figure out if they have the larger diameter axles around or if they have to machine them. Also does anyone know the old v new axle diameters?

You should be able to measure the collapsed and extended length then order new axle to fit . Even lone star should be smart enough to know that.

It’s not the length. I need the diameter and number of spines. Lone Star asked me.
We’ll line star has been around long enough that they should have all the answers. Without measuring anything . They were still selling the long travel kits after the 13 model came out. If you search back through my threads you will see where I posted the 12 model spline count and the 13 count. If you kit is a plus 4 that’s 4” longer than stock. Doesn’t matter if it’s a 12 or a 18 model axle. There was either 2 or 3 splines more over the 12. But that was a long time ago and I don’t remember for sure. I had the holz racing plus 3 it used factory 12 cv with their custom axles . Mine was 13 so as soon as I went to put axles in cv joints it was a no go. I had to get 12 axles. All the info would be In suspension section of forum and probably in late 2012 or 2013 . No clue what the diameter is only the spline count . But it should be pretty simple for long star . If that make a plus 4 axle for a 11 through 20 commander it will work in your machine . But really they should know the spline count for the 13 up machines . I personally would look for a different manufacturer. Plus 4 is plus 4 no matter what company built the kit.
