ah, way different taper mating surface than a snowmobile clutch. interesting.
I brought my 2013 commander to the dealer, told them the I blew 2-belts in 60 miles, when the belt exploded, they caused some damage, no warranty on it, got out of there with a 1,200.00 $ invoice for the repairs and the new belt.
BRP warranty sucks. I paln on doing about 500 miles with it this summer. Should I buy the belts by the dozen? Or I think I will sell this piece of scrap and buy a RZR 800. They apparently have very little problems

It's cause the stock clutches are garbage. The reason you had imperfections on one side of the belt is because the crank side of the primary, when under a heavy load, will spin faster than the outer part, in turn ruining a belt.
We haven't ever had this issue a QSC Primary.
how do you ever get to be an expert if you don't ask questions? I stated I never had my Commander clutch apart, and wanted to be enlightened on why this is an issue for some. kind of why this forum is here, I like to work on my own stuff rather than send out parts and wait months hoping it works. I've been tearing down and rebuilding CVT clutches long before anyone thought to put one on an ATV.Teeroy bud you gotta leave the clutch talk to the experts. Thanks for the info kris and airdam!

ah, no worries....I may have been a little defensive. kind of hardened from other forums where people aren't nearly as friendly as they are here. I was told the only stupid questions are the ones never asked.Hey man sorry if I came off the wrong way you are a good guy! It's just weird seeing someone talk to clutch experts like that I can almost feel their eyes rolling!! Lol if I ever tried talking tires with discount tire it would be like having Rupaul giving mike Tyson fighting tips lol!!
You have a sweet ride man I'm sorry if I came off wrong, take care man
Ditto... I blew my stock belt at 10 hours when I was cruising in High in 4" of light powdery snow, then hit a drift and tried to power across it... Didn't have time to shift into Low, which was obviously a big mistake, but given the trail conditions, etc. the result was a smoked stocker belt... Replaced it with a Gates G-Force Belt, and that worked fine until about 3 weeks ago... Long story short, and needing to run chains here in the winter, resulted in a totally trashed/shredded belt stranding me deep into the Colorado mountains... I just got my Clutch modded by Ed and also installed the Dalton kit and a new MAV 212 Belt... Look into that mod, it's a great alternative to the spendy Primary/Secondary clutch replacements... In that thread he'll also explain how you can verify that your Primary Sheaves are slipping, with pics to prove it... The stock belts/clutch are fine for casual riding... Push your Commander and you'll someday be dealing with a CVT belt that resembles this....you guys should really look at UATV-TECH's clutch mod it is cheaper but a really good alternative to buying a new clutch.
