has anyone had problems with the brakes when climbing hills and the bike stops and goes down the hill backwards

Only when the hill is too steep to get up, then I slide backwards. Usually involves a decent level of fear and stupidity.

Well in my experience if I couldn’t get up the hill. It always slid back down with all 4 wheels locked up. And yes nothing worse than sliding down a hill backwards. I think it’s worse than sliding down forward. But going down backwards you are mainly slowing down with the rear wheels . Front is so light once you hit the brakes they lock up and slide. But you should be able to control the rears with the brake pedal. But unless you got a max. Your trying to stop the machine with only one rear caliper not two . So you have to stand on the pedal with pretty much everything you got.
