The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam plant features four valves per cylinder and is fed by a 54mm Bosch‡ throttle body and two VDO fuel injectors. The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the at its peak, regardless of temperature or altitude.

Industry-leading fuel milage // Not only is the Rotax 1000 V-Twin EFI engine the most powerful engine in the side-by-side industry, it also has class-leading fuel mileage. Meaning you can trails longer.

Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) // New throttle-by-wire system that works in conjunction with the 54mm Bosch‡ throttle body to product smooth throttle delivery even if one’s foot is bouncing the terrain. The iTC system detects unwanted bounces and filters the input, resulting in more especially at low speed. This system also reduces the number of moving parts in the vehicle; hasno cables to adjust, lubricate, or replace; and the system has an increased life span.

Dual-level™ cargo box // BRP’s Can-Am Commander 1000 features the industry’s first cargo box with two levels separated by a removable, water-resistant panel. It offers the possibility to and a lower bed with an independent tailgate. Carrying capacity of the box is 600 lbs. total capacity. (400 lbs. upper, 200 lbs. lower) and has the most volume capacity in the market. The tilt-assist dumpbox can be easily activated from both sides. The Commander’s box is constructed and anti-dent composite. Easily removable tail gates (upper and lower), no-tools needed with latch, truck-like, upper and lower tail gate with four tie down hooks located in corners. There integrated vertical grooves for plywood dividers and the Can-Am Commander also comes with an trunk lock as an accessory to secure the lower level.

Visco-Lok front differential // Progressively transfers power from a slipping front wheel to the gripping one – automatically with no buttons to push or levers to pull. Plus, there’s no wheel driveline wind-up so the system is totally transparent to the driver and extremely easy to
up to 100% with no rev or speed limiter. The Can-Am Commander is the only side-by-side vehicle industry with a progressively locking front differential requiring no additional switches to the locking mechanism. Simply put it in four-wheel drive and ride, the differential will begin
when you need it allowing you to steer easily in challenging conditions.

Can-Am Commander 1000 Family Features and Benefits

Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI) rear suspension // Inspired from the world of toplevel, off-road trophy trucks, this trailing arm design provides excellent control and stability, in rough terrain by eliminating scrub. Wheels move rearward as they move up and down producing a smoother ride than the competition, and the side-by-side does not waver down the trail. Plus, up to 75 percent fewer parts than competitive designs and significantly decreases tire wear. The end features 10 inches (25 cm) of travel and the largest diameter rear, five-way
shocks in the industry 36mm (1.4 inches) for overall durability and better resistance to fading.

Double A-arms front suspension with dive-control geometry // Double A-arm suspension design features up front dive-control geometry, which works to eliminate diving under heavy rough terrain. By controlling vehicle dive, the Can-Am Commander handling is more precise in all and terrain types. The front end features 10 inches of travel (25 cm) and the largest diameter five-way preload-adjustable gas shocks in the industry (36mm or 1.4 inches) for overall better resistance to fading.

The family comes with two different keys. One is the normal key, which limits top speed to 44mph (70 km/h). The second key is the performance key which has no limitation on speed or power. An key is available for purchase and limits top speed to 25 mph (40 km/h) for use on work sites.

Darn I had my heart set on a 50" wide the 58.6 is not leagle on some of the trails in Montana. The withe is the only thing that I don't like I was realy hoping they would come out with a 50" wide UTV. Now I will have to give it a lot of thougt, most of the trails I can ride from the house are all open to all jeeps and UTVs, and there are hundreds of miles, but if I decide to go to Homestake pass or Ringing rock and the Galliton they are all 50" or less and I like to ride there so I have a big dessision to make.

Yea I have been to places like that I could not get through with the tracks on my ATV. We have two riding aeras up on Home Stake Pass, and Ringing Rock East of Butte MT. If I get the Commander I will not be able to ride those aeras.

Ditchdigger: I know how you feel. I was hoping that the standard width would have been 50" or less with the option of increasing the width with spacers and wheel combinations. I ride both Forest Service, BLM and Sand Dunes and I was hoping for a machine that was adaptible for all of these applications. Bummer! Oh well, I guess I'll have to just keep the Outlander Max for those narrow trails and use the Commander in the sand.

I don't blame them at all for coming out with a wide footprint to attempt staying out of the "Rhino Rollover Lawsuit Arena" and RZRs can flop pretty easy as well....SxS's don't flop or rollover, it's the drivers that do it....

The double edge sword is as they will probably stay upright better than Rhino/RZR,,,,,when pushed past that threshold, it's could really hurt the next morning....Lance

The 1000x doesn't come with the winch?
The X is a steal for only a few hundred over the xt. 2000$ in shocks(as priced in the accessories manual), sliders, beadlocks $$$, uber cool seats, leather steering wheel.

Winches will be available after market for a fraction of the BRP winch $$, so I'll take the shocks, and beadlocks myself ;)

Muzzy Exhaust and power command

My question is, how long into the break end period should you go before changing out the stock exhaust ? Or just change it out day one ? Yeah I know they say it voids the warranty. I have a few months to gather accessory for the x model I'm buying when I redeploy from Afghanistan in Feb. so I was just wondering. Not much talk here about the exhaust up grades. As for all the after market vendors supporting the forum I have a list, and I,m buying at least 1 or 2 thing from your shops. Thanks :)

I was wondering the weight difference between the X and XT. What's the poundage with the larger wheels and winch, is their a big difference ??
I plan to weigh mine when I get it, with and without accessory's.

I would guess a 40# difference. The "X" adds a weight with the beadlocks and tree bars.
