Defender reverse lights

After tons of searching for days, watching videos of peoples ideas on a good clean factory look for reverse lights on the defender I just wasnt happy with any ... so I started shopping around myself to see if I could figure out the perfect factory lookin light options and finally ran across KC highlites cyclone lights ! They are priced very well and have a 23yr warranty! The lights are almost 100% the same dimensions as the factory installed reflectors under the tail lights and mount dead center with a bolt of ur choice just as the reflectors do.... once u find ur right bolt with locking nut u may have to drill the mounting hole out a touch bigger to fit ur bolt then just below drill another small hole to run ur wires threw the bed panel ... a little adjusting of ur light while tightening down then u wind up with an amazing looking reverse light that looks as factory as possible .... I may not be the first to figure this option out but figured I'd share pics and throw it out the incase someone else would enjoy these lights as well Defender reverse lights-20190117_183931_1547784244346.jpgClick image for larger version

I live 50 miles west of St.Louis ... I just got the lights wired wire loomed in and hooked up to the switch last night and they work great ! I chose the diffused style lens on these cyclones which is a more scattered flood pattern ... 550 lumens each is plenty of light or a good set of reverse lights

To correct my self on these kc hilites cyclones they are 1100 lumens each not 550 ... the garage pics do not do them justice ... outside at night they are the ultimate reverse lights for their small clean size

Great looking lights, nice install, thanks for sharing. How do you turn them on? Manual switch or micro switch located on shift lever that actuated when you put it in reverse?

I purchased them individually through Ebay 28 bucks a piece .... they offer a few style lenses ... colored and two styles of white light ... clear lense = flood , hazed lense = defused ..... the defused lense is a extremely scattered flood and it really is awesome how much the light is spread behind the bike .... I bought the 2" series which is 2.20" ... i dont know if the offer different sizes but i do know they sell packages that come with wiring , switches or multiple lights to run as rock lights...... as for turning them on i ran them to a can-am style switch that I also purchased from Ebay (seller was adrenaline cycles) I'd rather have them on a switch manual switch so if I'm doin something behind the bike at night I can just flip them on.

Thanks for the replay Stapleton. I like your install. I'm considering doing this as having backup lights is a great idea.

back up lights

Thanks for posting this. I was looking into backup lights for the roof but now I think these may be the way to go. I like the clean look.

Tagging this one for later. Nice option. I've seen the Youtube for the Rigid option, but this one appears to be more affordable than that. Thanks for the info.

Did you guys install a fused wiring harness like running a light bar, or did you just run wires from your rocker switch which is keyed power?
