Im having problems putting my shifter into any gear ive changed oneway bearings, rollers and slides and still having problems. At ropes end could it be secondary compression spring ? In my book it says length should be 4.9?? Mine is measuring 5.312 any thoughts?anyone??
If belt is turning at idle then something is going on in the primary. Oneway locked up , oneway on shaft backwards or weights are stuck and keeping the primary slightly engaged. Take primary back apart inspect everything closely. Belt can not turn at idle or or it will not allow you to shift gears. Also before taking belt off make sure you can spin the belt by hand . Should spin one direction fairly easy and the belt not touch or drag on either side of the primary .
Can you give us a little background on the machine? Like has it been doing this since you got it? Did it just start doing it one day out of the blue? Where any changes made before it started doing that sort of thing? Those sort of things. . . Also, what shape are the bearings in and maybe more importantly the bushings that ride on the countershaft in the secondary; does the secondary wobble?
The reason I ask is that I had a very similar problem when I swapped out gearboxes. I made the stupid mistake of replacing the stock gearbox with one from Mrrpm. It had many issues. But one of the most obvious initially was that the belt would spin even at idle - very hard to shift. The problem was that countershaft was off by a few 10s of thousandths so that when the secondary and belt was installed it placed the belt a a very slight angle pushing it into the rear sheave of the primary.
So some history on the machine might help if the cause is something unusual.
You can see how mine would grab in the first video with the mrrpm box and how it would not when I put an in oem box in the second video.
Yes, with the next piece being the spacer with the small ridge towards the motor too. I think the ridge lands on the inner bearing race of the second set of bearings.
The motor side of my old belt was worn more than outer side im thinking i have to shim my secondary out but not sure where to put shim theres only like .150 thousandths sticking out that the helix mounts on any other ideas??
Hi,
Im having the same issue with my 2011 Commander 1000X it has a new CVTech primary and a new stock secondary and new OEM belt. It appears that belt is rubbing on the back sheeve of the primary keeping the secondary spinning at idle.
Did you find a fix? do you know where one can get shimms? No shop I talk to knows anything about shimms
