Wile the taller tire might get you more top speed but your Speedometer would not know you are going faster. Infact the top speed may be the same or faster but you need a GPS to know for sure. Really a before and after GPS reading would be the way to tell.

Theoretically yes if you had the power to push the additional gearing. But with the taller bigger tire also comes more weight also which robs horsepower.

With stock tires, when my speedo says 74 I'm doing 71. So the speedo is a little off anyway.

I'm guessing that the point made in Bryan's post (quoted above) has more to do with your speed issue than an actual loss of speed. Your dealer should be able to recalibrate your speedo to your new tire size...

maybe you need to clean the speed sensor.

usually you lose top speed because the engine just gives out and dont have enough power to pull the larger heavier tires. think of this:

take a brand new ford 150, or chevy 1500 crew cab truck. put a leveling kit on it and a set of 33x12.50 mud tires. they will fit fine, but your gas mileage, and top speed and acceleration will all suffer. why? because the motor just dont wanna pull the larger heavier tires with the gear ratio the trans and diffs have. just too big and heavy of a tire. most any owner with 27-29" mud tires can only do about 65. nothing new. just how it is. the engine just dont have the power to pull those tires past that speed. clutching it wont make hardly difference. you are fighting power, and gear ratio. a clutch kit wont fix that.

^ Clutch kit wont fix top speed, but will definitely fix the lost low end and some lost acceleration.
