The 5 Piece Skid Plate Package is installed on my Commander.
Some comments/notes/feedback: 1. While a good set of instructions would have helped, the customer service received from the shop (David) more than accommodated. He was a great help. 2. The main skid and rear skid re-uses the same hardware used to attach the factory installed skid. I had three leftover that were not needed to instal this skid. I assume I didnt miss anything? 3. It doesn't matter what order you install the various skid pieces. 4. To install the laterals, you have to insert three threaded clips for each lateral. Two are located near the rear of the lateral skid and one located at front. They just slip into the slots that are there. If you hold the lateral skid where it has to mount, this should be obvious. The forth bolt to attach the laterals replaces a torx screw that you have to first remove. 5. I had some trouble with one of the laterals getting all the four holes to line up correctly. I used a heat gun to heat up the skid so that it expanded a little and was able to get it into place. I found the easiest way was to install the front bolt first, then the two rear and lastly the one that replaces the torx screw. 6. The front skid uses 6 bolts. Four of these are used to attach the rear section. You will see four octagon holes in the frame for these. You will have to slightly round out these octogon holes just large enough to accept the threaded inserts (brass things that come with the bolts). You need a threaded insert tool (nutsert) to install these - a link is on the factory utv site to purchase one. Once you attach the insert to the tool and put it in the hole, you simply squeeze the handle on the tool. The tool causes the insert to expand which keeps it in place. I found that the brass inserts required a bit of effort to expand - more than I expected. The remaining two bolts with the nuts are used to install the front portion of this skid. If you put your hand inside the factory plastic and feel around, you will find the hole in the metal where these attach. If you have a sharp "awl", you can use it to puncture the factory plastic (from inside) so that you will know exactly where these two bolts go. The front skid goes on over this thin plastic front that comes installed from the factory. 7. Finally, the A-Arm skids are pretty self explanatory. Four bolts/attachments per A-Arm skid. Should be obvious to tell which one goes on each side. The front is the highest of the two sides. The washers, nuts and little bracket are inside and the bolts on on outside. To remove the factory a-arm protectors, you have to drill out the rivets. I would suggest using a pair of pliers to hold the rivets from the inside to keep them from spinning when you are drilling them out. One final thing, which I probably should have mentioned earlier. There are more holes in the skids than are needed. As I understand it, some of the holes are used in the manufacturing process to shape the skids.....and obviously (the larger ones) are accesss points to drain plugs etc.... Hope this helps someone. I ordered the 1 pc main skid with a-arm guards and front skid. I really like everything about my Factory UTV skids except 1 thing, mud getting trapped above the main skid near the front (where the laterals would go). Anyone else having this problem? It has pulled my front 2 bolts and washers out and I never found them. Does anyone know if the FUTV laterals will work with the full main skid? If not any other suggestions on how to block that open space? BOB..... HELP!!!! Lol!

Our 5 piece UHMW skid plate packages are ready to ship. We're offering a package similar to the Can Am protection package but ours is constructed from UHMW and is hundreds $$ less expensive. Lighter, slicker and tougher than aluminum, UHMW has become the overwhelming industry favorite for UTV protection. All bolt on no drilling required.
