New OEM power steering for 2013

I talked to a Can-Am rep and dealer this weekend about some possible new things coming for 2013. Both told me that something will debut at Mud Nationals this weekend but refused to give me any hints, but that is old news. They did confirm that the 2013 Commanders will have power steering. He also said that they will have a kit so we can add them on our previous year models. The dealer said they should have them in his hand around September. Anybody else heard something like this or anything else coming in 2013.

This is the first I've heard of that, but the Commander already has the bracket for the power steering, so I knew it was just a matter of time. I'm sure the QE diff will also be added along with it.

Not surprising as it was in their plans. Hope they also offer a better rack to handle to power steering load.

So…help me out with the need for power steering on the Commanders. I guess maybe we are little more active in Arkansas. We took the XT to Wolf Pen Gap over the weekend and my wife chauffeured my mother-in-law all over the place with no need for power steering. I drove it all over our tree farm hauling equipment….no need for Power steering. ALTHOUGH when we unloaded in our concrete drive it was a little tough to steer, but got the job done. Please explain!

(note: my wife is 7 months pregnant and she never even mentioned or whined about "hard to turn")

Not a need, a want. If you ever drive one with ps you'll want too. Makes tight woods trail driving much easier. I agree commander turns great while you're moving, but if your having to make full cycles while sitting still so you can back up, pull up, back up .... trying to get thru tight spots you'll love being able to turn the wheel with one finger.

@Arcansas, what kind of tires do you run?

I will add that I got mine with snow on the roads and it was not bad at all. I hope in the dirt it's close. After they plowed the roads it takes major effort to turn. In 4 wheel it is brutal but it launches like a rocket. I think upping the psi in the tires would help a great deal but power steering is going to be a great addition if the QR racks would ever get here so my order will ship.

Try running aftermarket tires and turning around on tight trails. Then you will understand what we are talking about.
