Commander Roof

This is a discussion on Commander Roof within the Commander General Discussion forums, part of the Can-Am Commander General Discussion category; I found this roof on EBAY. I thought it was nice and the price is reasonable $260 and free shipping....

Actually I tried to install my carbon fiber roof (Maier) Their website says 2011/12 Commander 1000 ... I say ney ney.. Nutyahhh... Crap wont fit and Maier is unresponsive. However, the store I bought from (Kaliforney) is standup. Sent me a prepaid shipper label and apologized . I would like a plastic or carbon fiber rather then aluminum/steel but I'm not paying the $800 that CanAm wants. Just have to keep looking.

Dont think so... The front P clamps cant fit no way in Hell. The diagram looks different then my 1000XT . May fit a 1000?? But on my XT there is a support under the rollbar front crossbeam. Not in the Maier diagram/picture. So the roof molded front hump with the predrilled hole is about 6" away... The front cutouts on the roof for the rollbar dont match either. And finally with a full windshield the roof doesnt sit properly even if I could get the P clamps to work....

My guess is the 2011 is different then a 2012 XT

Oh three other folks looked at it as well...Same conclusion... No Way.....

Well I got a deal on my stuff and still think I spent too much but I got what I wanted. A can-am yellow roof($340 brand new shipped to my door) with black sport visor (210 new from my dealer). So I've got $550 invested, still too much for what you get IMO.... BUT.. Ive got it now and its installed and looks great.. next time I'd probably go with an aftermarket roof and save some coin.... Next investment.... TUNES!!!

Agree with this guy. Love my Bad Dawg roof. Perfect fit. Well constructed. All roofs for Commanders seem a little pricey to me but at $330 shipped, this wasn't as bad as some.

Here are some actual photos of the Bad Dawg installed.

Another one here to recommend the Bad Dawg roof.

But a word of warning - if you buy the BD roof, make sure that you attach the front connections first, THEN pull down the back and connect those. That will make the roof nice and tight.

If you attach the back first, then the front may not line up properly for you.

And, BTW, the roll cages are the same (AFAIK) on all models & years of the Commander.
