Belt Issue Fix?

Ok, the other day I took my Golden for a slow ride in the Commander. No longer than ten to fifteen minutes. When a got back I smelled burning rubber. Not real strong but I could definitely smell it. So I was wondering what, if there is one, is a fix for this? I'm not opposed to new clutching but I don't need a performance clutch set up unless that'll fix it. Also what will I all need to change a blown belt on the trail? And what's the best and strongest belt to buy for it? Thanks for any info. Just trying to be prepared before it happens, lol.

If not a new clutch just get a blower for the clutch see STM or buy the blower and engineer something yourself. Its all about keeping the temps down.

If he is in the snow I would find it hard to believe that its ambient temp is to high!

I just bought the two puller tools and a belt from holz raing for about 160 bucks, they are a vendor on the site, also you will want to cut the two holes in the bottom of the skid plate bigger so you can get a good turn with your 5/16 wrench.... you wont need the puller tools to change a belt but you will to pull the clutches off if you ever need to. a simple bolt in the secondary will spread it and allow you to get the belt out. If you are going to use a bolt on the secondary then I would grind the end to a dull point because the threads on the end will get messed up and cant get the bolt out

My belt issues went away when I switched to the gates belt.

I missed it, where does he say he was in the snow? Anyway, if he was, and the snow was deep and he was going slow, I hope he put it into low gear.

It's 8mm not 5/16" and u can get it from the top with a long 1/4" drive extension snd universal once the exhaust cools down. Depending on ur hand size

Yep I'm in the snow(Northern Lower Michigan). Not slow, but in low, anytime I'm going slower than 40. Thanks for the replies everybody by the way.

Hmm! I would stay in low up to about 30 MPH not 40. The belt is screaming at that point.
