Thanks for the info,
I went for a ride in a 2012 "X" yesterday and the noise at speed was less than half of mine. My diff is a 411.
It would seem the 506 has solved the rear diff whine problem ?? Yes / No ??

Me thinks it's all in the setup of the backlash, same guts in the case.
My 411 is pretty loud at times and my warranty just ran out on Jan. 27th
I think I'm going to fill the rear with Royal Purple 75/140 and see if that has any effect at all. If it does, I might just pull the diff and see how much backlash it actually has, also end shaft play. With the way forged gears wear (notice the "glitter" in the diff oil), when you change it, I'm sure that the backlash could use some attention ............ JMO

You must be right, I change my rear diff oil about every 50 hours and it always has a lot of glitter and looks dirty.

Adding backlash a minute bit at a time, constantly and never ending
