I used to have a can am 800 limited ,with the digital key ,i sold it to a friend and he rolled it at Koa Glamis ,we had to drive a few hundred miles for the dealer to hook up a lap top to reset it .took him 3 min. does anybody know if the new commanders will have the same setup ?

the new commanders will have the DESS system seems like most of the BRP play toys has it

They will have the same system. Ski-Doo uses it on the snowmobiles also. We always carry a spare key just so we don't get stuck in the middle of nowhere. A friend of mine told me a story about a snowmobiler that dropped his key in the road and it got run over by a truck. Like you he had to haul the sled 3 hours away to get it reprogrammed.

If you have more than one machine your dealer can program your keys to operate up to 4 machines. You need to bring him all of the machines at the same time though.

The can am dealer we took it to said it had a rollover shut off system that could only be reset by a dealer ,that could be a problem if the commander is equipped with the same system ,i have turned 30 or 40 rzrs back up on their wheels and they could drive off ,it would be a drag to have to find a dealer on a long weekend ride in the mountains to reset a switch .?

XXXOffroad has rolled his demo, maybe he can chime in. That would really suck if you were riding by yourself, got it flipped back upright, and then it wouldn't start. The could be a life or death flaw being stranded in the Arizona desert.

Theres is no dought some of us will have the Rubber side up. Shutting off in a rollover is not a bad Ideal. Not being able to restart is a really dumb Ideal. If thats the case I will insist the dealer deactivate it before it leaves the showroom!
