maintenence required!

so it took it out to the dunes this weekend for its maiden trip. ran awesome! no dune i couldnt get up and was faster then the quads in the whoops. and not tired at all after a 3hr ride lol. so the message pops up now ( maintenence required) the guy just had the 50hr service done at the dealer done just before i got it with 52hrs on it. it now has 71hrs and 996 miles on it. does it just need the oil changed or is there a problem? should i take it to the dealer and pay $90 for them just to look at it? thanks J

My 2012 800 xt does the same thing it started just after my 10hr service. I took it in and they couldn't find anything wrong so I've been keeping an eye on things and so far nothing. It does it at start up but goes away with in 10 seconds of starting. So I'll keep up on my maintenance schedule and watch it.

Mine is the same, I just reset it and see if it comes up and it took about 20 hours for it to come up again and no issues with the rig...just another way for dealers to make a few bucks by plugging into it I guess...which dunes did you go to?

oregon dunes. sand camped by box car in north bend. only saw 2 other commanders there in 6 day of riding. followed some xp900's and 2 with turbos and i stayed right with them and climbed everything they did. i think i coulda done better with the 16 paddle stu blasters insted of the 8 paddle doonz as i was a little slower climbing the steep soft stuff. so how do i reset the message??? Nice place to camp...I was at Riley Ranch a few weeks ago which is about 5 miles North. Great camp ground with good dune access. I only saw one other commander after 5 days of riding. I've got a set of the blasters and love em, made a huge difference and my buddy (has the XP900) and I were neck and neck everywhere, no issues climbing hills, nothing...great setup all around, I love this thing! As far as resetting the message...

The message flashes at certain hours to remind you of periodic maintanence. The owners manual tells you how to clear it.
