Jun 03, 2015 - 6:04 PM - by NickJ
  • Three new class-leading Rotax ATV engines
  • More power to the Can-Am Maverick X ds 1000R Turbo
  • New specialty vehicles for hunters and mud riders

Valcourt, Québec, Canada, June 3, 2015 — BRP (TSX: DOO) asserts itself as the off-road performance leader by delivering more of what consumers have been asking for: three new class-leading Rotax ATV engines, increased to 131 hp the flagship Can-Am Maverick X ds 1000R Turbo, and new specialized models for the 2016 Can-Am off-road line-up.

“BRP aims to remain the performance leader of the global off-road industry,” said Anne Bélec, senior vice-president, Global Brand, Strategy and Information Systems. “We offer our customers the latest engine technologies and industry-leading power in all ATV segments and a more powerful Rotax 1000R Turbo engine in the Maverick, Maverick X ds and new X rs side-by-side vehicles. More than ever, our customers can experience the ultimate ride and the latest technologies in the industry.”

Rotax engineers optimized and upgraded three of the signature ATV engines: the 570, the 850 and the 1000R. With significant power and torque gains, the new engines offer Can-Am off-road vehicles a clear advantage over the competition.

The new Maverick 1000R Turbo model, the most affordable factory-installed turbocharged side-by-side vehicle in the industry, along with the Maverick X ds 1000R Turbo and new Maverick X rs 1000R Turbo models are the most powerful in the industry. These models raise the performance bar with greater torque and an unprecedented 131 horsepower for an impeccable combination of power and handling.

Along with the additional performance, BRP expands its Can-Am off-road family with specialty vehicles. The Outlander L X mr 570 ATV makes mud riding more affordable than ever. The new Mossy Oak Hunting Edition vehicles, featuring the Mossy Oak Break-Up Country camo pattern, and an array of specialized accessories, will thrill hunters everywhere.

“We have received a great deal of media attention, dealer and consumer praise following our recent product launches, especially with the Maverick X ds Turbo side-by-side and affordable Outlander L all-terrain vehicles,”... [Read More]

CAN-AM COMMANDER MAX DPS 1000 PERFORMANCE

Rotax® 1000 V-Twin Engine

The 85-horsepower, liquid-cooled, single overhead cam Rotax 1000 V-twin features four valves per cylinder and is fed by a 54 mm Bosch throttle body and two VDO Siemens fuel injectors. The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the engine’s performance at its peak, regardless of temperature or altitude.

The Continuously Variable Transmission offers engine braking as well as High, Low, Park, Neutral and Reverse. The integrated Electronic Drive Belt Protection monitors the CVT belt to determine its condition and alerting the driver when necessary. The integrated Electronic Drive Belt Protection offers belt-spotting protection for when a driver is in high gear, but should be in low gear. The vehicle will not move and a “LOW GEAR” message will appear on the gauge, alerting the driver. The system is currently available as optional function on other Can-Am side-by-side vehicles.

Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC™)
The maintenance-free, throttle-by-wire system teams with the 54 mm Bosch throttle body to produce smooth throttle delivery even if the driver’s foot is bouncing due to the terrain. The Commander MAX side-by-side has a selectable Sport mode, which offers a... [Read More]

WHAT’S NEW AT-A-GLANCE
For 2016, Can-Am aggressively revised its ATV and side-by-side vehicle lineup, by delivering more of what enthusiasts are asking for, including increased power. The performance increase includes three ATV engines and boosting performance of the flagship Maverick™ 1000R Turbo engine. Along with additional performance, new specialty vehicle packages join the family in 2016, giving Can-Am its most diverse lineup ever. From the affordable, mud-specific Outlander® L 570 X® mr ATV and new Maverick 1000R TURBO, to the all-new Maverick X rs 1000R TURBO and Mossy Oak† Hunting Edition vehicles, Can-Am has vastly expanded its off-road family. Can-Am Maverick X ds Turbo takes Doug Siddens Back to Pikes Peak
Apr 20, 2015 - 11:33 AM - by NickJ

April 20, 2015 - Austin, TX - Four-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb racer, Doug Siddens, will make his fifth bid up the hill in 2016. Doug was the first driver to pilot a Side by Side machine in the famed Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race. This attempt will find him piloting the all-new Can-Am Maverick X ds Turbo, the first factory turbocharged Side by Side to be offered in the UTV market.

Siddens has a long history with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Back in 2010 he was the first person to pilot a UTV up the 156 turns that make up the race course. In subsequent years, he went from a moderately modified machine, to a heavily modified race car, picking up records and many accolades along the way. In his 2012 appearance, he managed to pick up the title of Fastest Qualifier in the Exhibition Powersport Class. That year he ended up running 9th overall, which is no small feat considering he was racing against the best drivers, and the best teams with considerable big-name backing from all over the world.

The next year, 2013, he stepped into the Unlimited Class with the likes of the Red Bull team and the team surrounding the record-breaking Peugot 208 T16 car. 2013 saw Siddens sitting in the penultimate iteration of his race car featuring a hand-lain... [Read More]
